Tundish Impact Pads

Tundish Impact Pads for Continuous Casting, Molten Steel Flow Control and Refractory Protection Applications
Product Overview

Tundish Impact Pads

Tundish Impact Pads are specially designed refractory components installed directly beneath the ladle shroud entry point inside the tundish. Their primary function is to absorb and dissipate the kinetic energy of the incoming molten steel stream, protecting the tundish working lining from excessive wear while promoting smoother and more controlled steel flow.

Without an impact pad, the high-velocity molten steel stream entering the tundish can cause severe refractory erosion, excessive turbulence, and increased slag entrainment. Tundish Impact Pads help distribute the incoming steel flow more evenly throughout the tundish, reducing turbulence and creating favorable flow conditions for inclusion flotation. Manufactured from high-strength refractory materials, they provide excellent resistance to thermal shock, erosion, and molten steel attack, ensuring reliable performance throughout casting campaigns.

  • Absorbs the impact energy of incoming molten steel
  • Reduces turbulence and improves steel flow behavior
  • Protects tundish working lining from localized wear
  • Supports cleaner steel production and improved casting performance
