Bottom Purging (BP) System are integrated refractory and gas-injection systems installed at the bottom of steel ladles to facilitate controlled argon purging during secondary metallurgy operations. A typical BP Set consists of porous plugs, seating blocks, gas supply assemblies, and associated refractory components designed to deliver uniform gas flow into molten steel for efficient bath stirring and refining.
By introducing inert gas through the ladle bottom, BP Sets improve steel bath homogenization, accelerate inclusion flotation, enhance alloy distribution, and promote thermal uniformity throughout the molten steel. These systems play a vital role in modern steelmaking processes such as Ladle Furnace (LF), Vacuum Degassing (VD), RH Degassing, and other secondary metallurgy operations where steel cleanliness and metallurgical control are critical.
