CONTINUOUS CASTING MACHINE (CCM) CONSUMABLES

Mould Powder

Mould Powder for Continuous Casting Lubrication, Heat Transfer Control and Steelmaking Applications
Product Overview

Mould Powder

Mould Powder, also known as Mold Flux, is an essential consumable used in continuous casting operations to ensure smooth and efficient solidification of molten steel within the mould. Applied on the molten steel surface inside the mould, the powder melts and forms a protective slag layer that performs multiple critical functions during the casting process.

A properly designed Mould Powder provides lubrication between the solidifying steel shell and the mould wall, controls heat transfer, minimizes friction, and protects molten steel from atmospheric oxidation. It also absorbs non-metallic inclusions rising from the steel, contributing to improved surface quality and cleaner cast products. Our mould powders are carefully engineered to meet the specific requirements of billet, bloom, slab, and special steel casting operations.

  • Provides effective lubrication during strand solidification
  • Controls heat transfer for stable casting conditions
  • Protects molten steel from reoxidation and contamination
  • Absorbs non-metallic inclusions to improve steel cleanliness
